AEDC Announcement!
By GoCenterville
WHO Radio Tractor Ride will be based in Centerville Sunday, June 24th through Wednesday, June 27th! 650 tractors w/ at least 1,000 participants filling every hotel, cabin, restaurant, store, etc in the area. Huge event for the Appanoose County economy and reputation!
FYI - this tractor ride consists of 650 antique tractors ridden over preplanned road courses throughout the county for 3 days. They'll depart and return from Centerville daily as they park the tractors at our fair grounds each night. The riders come from all over the state, and I imagine outside the state as well. Most will bring spouses who will either ride as well, or shop throughout the area during the day.
It was great to hear live on the radio the following: Joyce Bieber, Rathbun Area Chamber of Commerce; John Glenn, Rathbun Regional Water Association; Andy Woodrick, Honey Creek Resort; Bill Burch, Go Centerville and Commercial Resources; and Bob Sinclair, Centerville Tractor. All did a great job representing our area and their excitement of this huge event coming to our county! This event is promoted in a huge way on WHO radio (largest news radio station in Iowa) leading up to, and during the event, which means Centerville, Rathbun Lake, and Appanoose County will be constantly mentioned in a positive context in preparation. There are numerous tractor rides throughout the state during the year, but this is by far the largest. The Chamber of Commerce will be needing many volunteers as they prepare for this huge event.
